random irritants

Just because I can I thought I'd rattle off some things that have been bothering me of late.

• Unreasonable requests. Lack of planning on your part does not constitue an emergency on my part. If something is so damned important you should have asked me sooner or figured out how to handle the situation yourself. And if you are going to make an unreasonable request, at least ask nicely


• Irritating cell phone rings. 'nuff said


• Cell phones left on, unattended, in the office so they ring incessantly for everyone but the owner to hear.


• Cashiers who ring up my order incorrectly and argue with me about the price without even looking at the receipt. I know how to add, thankyouverymuch, and tax does not explain a 30% discreancy


• Overuse of "lol" in email or on lj. Drives me bananas.


• Inattention to detail when and where details matter.
  
• Banks' ridiculous overdraft fees.


• People who call repeatedly and don't leave messages.

Hey, why not just go over and turn it off? Maybe it'd get their attention. You could even leave a note about how annoying it'd been, so they wouldn't forget to turn it back on. But, just maybe they'd have learned a new lesson. Hmmm....

I've done that -- the second time. (First time I turn it down or turn off the ringer, with a note.) I have nt yet progressed to stealing the battery or stealing the whole phone, but I may. :-)

If I read LOL, I want to *know* that person is laughing out loud. "I went down to 7-11 LOL and my brother forgot to take the trash out LOL" doesn't cut it.

Amen! And I generally prefer it as a response to something someone else said than as a commentary on their own writing. If it's funny, *I* will laugh.
