One year ago we were home with our doula trying to get better, stronger contractions started. My water had been broken for nearly six hours, I was leaking amniotic fluid intermittently and had completely given up on the prospect of dry pants. We were still a good twenty hours from the the babe making his appearance.

In twenty hours and some change our baby turns one.

It has been one hell of year.

Happy Birth Day Anniversary to two very awesome parents. I've never said this before, but your little family makes me hopeful for the future. I wish more children could be raised in a home full of love and learning; full of appreciation for life's diversity, with an awareness of privilege and class, of discrimination and justice, of art and science and laughter, lots and lots of laughter.
