Shot this today at the harvest festival at Ardenwood. Kind of digging it. Based on another pictures of the bird I took, I do believe that is a walnut in its mouth.

This weekend was intense.

I was up until nearly 3am Friday/Saturday finishing the programs for our show (A Taste for Dance) and dealing with FedEx Office (Kinko's) fail. Got it sorted out Saturday morning, then left at 11am for rehearsal. Had rehearsal, went to Berkeley Bowl to pick up some stuff for the event, met Michael for lunch, went to Michael's house and showered and did my makeup, then we headed to Berkeley for the event where we were until close to 11pm. Peter handled picking up programs and buying waters for the event and getting the kids and my mom there. GREAT SHOW!!! It was fantastic! (aside from poor S. puking-- too much chocolate, probably -- all over himself, L., Michael, and my mom at the very end). Got Michael home, stopped to get myself food as I had only had lunch and a few chocolate covered almonds and it was midnight. Got home close to 12:30am (880 construction = traffic fail), ate, wound down, got makeup off, showered and fell asleep sometime between 2 and 3. Got up this morning, made pancakes for everyone, then we all (us and my mom) headed to the harvest festival and Ardenwood where we harvested corn (grain and popcorn, not sweet corn) and sweated bullets as it got a lot hotter than it started out. Great day, but I AM BEAT!!!

Second crazy Saturday in a row and got another coming up.

Last Saturday I made TWO trips into the city for memorial activities for my friend Richard who died back in February, on transit-geddon weekend. Urgh. Two trips because I had rehearsal in Berkeley in the middle of the day. I drove in once, drove out, then took BART back in with no fewer than 5,000 people crammed into each train car and back out. LONG day.

Next weekend is Bridge School Benefit which will be awesome. But, damn, mama's tired.

As you were.

Amazon ended up releasing "Hot&Heavy: Fierce Fat Girls on Life, Love, and Fashion a month ahead of schedule which made a lot of folks REALLY happy. I got my copies from the publisher this week.

It is exciting and feels a bit scary. There is a book launch party on November 8th at The Booksmith in San Francisco and I will be reading an excerpt from my piece there. Today I was also booked into two more readings in the Bay Area (another in November and then in February)....more info as I know it.

It is weird how fast this happened...it was a little over a year from conception to printed book. Amazing. MAJOR props to Virgie (our editor) for making this happen and to Seal Press for believing in it and giving the book its due.

The book is filled with amazing essays. Buy it. Read. it.
