I haven't done a swim workout in about seven years. With our new schedule I have a sliver of time three days a week when I can conceivably go swim. My suit, cap, and goggles arrived in the mail two days ago so I went today. I know the first days are always the hardest and I won't lie...it was hard. I made myself do a 200 continuous when I first got in and that was a challenge. I did ultimately end up managing a workout of 1850 yards, mostly swimming (everything except fly as I am not ready for that yet), some kicking, done in about ~45 minutes. It was nice, mostly fun, and admittedly a lot of work as I am really out of swim condition. I am sore already.

Oooh, jealousy! I wish I could find a good place around here to swim.

I remember when I started doing regular swimming workouts years ago that at first I was so tired when I got out of the pool I would literally lurch drunkenly into the walls as I tried to make it to the showers. Swimming is hard. But it's so satisfying to ramp up.

I am really fortunate that we have a good place that isn't too far from our house and is close enough to the kids' schools. The one sucky thing is that it is closed from 2-3 and that is part of the time I am free of kids, but so far I am making it work. I am really sore this week--I swam twice, biked once, did a few walks, did some other workout stuff, and had rehearsal today. Swimming is *exhausting* and yes, quite hard. I keep telling myself it won't be this terrible for long...getting over that initial hump is always a thing.
