Photo of the Day: The Cat and the Photographer. This is a macro shot of my parents' cat Piper's face, with me, taking her picture, reflected in her pupil. I shot this when we were visiting my parents for Father's Day last year. I love taking pictures of Piper because her coloring makes her an easy cat to photograph. Harlie, our cat, is mostly black with some orange and white and it is really hard to get a good photo of her face because of the lack of contrast. Piper, OTOH, was made to be a cat-model.

I have a lot of trouble taking pictures of Anais, too, since she absorbs most photons. Also, her eyelids are droopy, so she always looks like she's closing them unless I manage to take her picture with her head upside-down.

Upside-down cat pics are marvelous. Piper is a super-awesome cat to photograph because of her lighter colors, fluffiness, and big eyes.
