cassidyroseWe spent our first full night away from L. (and both the kids...S. has slept away from us before) last night. The NOLOSE conference was this past weekend and we both stayed overnight at the hotel...it was amazing getting that kind of a break from the kids. It was the biggest break I have had from kids since before S. was born in 2006. I left yesterday morning at noon and didn't come home until 5:30pm today.
L. did great with my mom and was fine. S. was too. All good.
We didn't get much sleep as there was a lot going on all night at the conference, but I slept sounder than I have in forever, mostly because I wasn't listening for kids.
Conference was great. Amazing. Hard. Emotional. I am *drained*. We (Big Moves) brought all of Jazz Hams to the conference for the Saturday night entertainment (and even added some guests) and it was spectacular. I cannot believe we pulled it off, but we did...especially as six of the ten of our dancers performing last night were attending the conference. This morning I read an excerpt of my piece that will be in Hot&Heavy: Fierce Fat Girls on Life, Love, and Fashion at the brunch salon. Eight of us read and it was all amazing and at times quite heart breaking and ultimately inspiring. I got through it. I spent an hour in the pool afterwards just hanging out and floating around. I bought vintage dresses, teggings, a belt, and bloomers this weekend, as well as homemade jam and popsicles.
Now I must rest. School for S. in the morning.
