It's not everyday...

...that I get my picture on the front page of the SF Chronicle. This picture was taken at yesterday's International No Diet Day festivities in SF at which I performed. In the photo I am participating in an aerobics routine with Jennifer Portnick who managed to get Jazzercise to change their policies about who could open a franchise (she had been denied a franchise because they said she didn't "look fit"), and they now have no policy regarding weight or "look" for franchise operators.

This event was also covered on our local news. Go team go! Once I saw a jazzercise demo and one of the ladies was bald. Now yah just don't see that every day. If she can be in jazzercise then we can all be in jazzercise. Group hug.

Way to go! I liked reading the accompanying article, too - I'd be *more* likely to take an exercise class if the instructor had a body more like mine and less like Ally McBeal's. If Jazzercise would realize that, they could tap into a whole new market.

Thanks! I agree that many more people would be more comfortable in exercise classes if the instructors were not all super-thin and if the emphasis was on having fun and getting fit rather that losing weight and "burning fat"

I just used this picture and the link to prove a point I was trying to make on an email list. (It's a bunch of Mormon women who can get fairly catty at times.) Anyways, more than one person had posted about how "awful" it was to see someone, who shouldn't be (in their opinion) walking around in shorts and tank tops.

And, I wonder sometimes why I can't find Mormon guys to date. Maybe it's because they have mothers like the women on the list.

Oh well.
