Our third day in Florida was our beach day. All four adults and the two kids schlepped to Deerfield Beach (near Ft. Lauderdale). It was great. Our only disappointment was that the water was unusually choppy and there were rip currents so it wasn't really swim-friendly, but we did get to go in the water some and enjoy the craziness of 70+ degree F ocean water. It was odd to
ptor and I who are so accustomed to the ~50-60 degree-ish water here off the coast of California. I've been in the 50 degree waters off the coast of Mendocino (in a wet suit, mind you) and it is cold. Feeling ocean water that didn't feel cold to the touch and turn my feet red was crazy and wonderful. S. spent a lot of time shoveling sand with his new sand toys and he put his feet and legs in the water with
ptor and loved it. He was gut-laughing when the waves splashed around his legs. He thought the water was soapy because of the foam.
ptor was delighted to enjoy the water and I had fun in the water, in the sand and hanging out. Baby W. spent most of the day in a sling on his mommy and daddy and seemed to enjoy the trip.
