overwhelmed...in a good way

cassidyroseI have some of the best friends in the whole world. I know that sounds cheezy, but 'tis true. Here's the story.

mactavish asked me last week if I could get together with her as she had something to give me. I figured she had maybe picked something up for me on her recent trip with joedecker, or maybe some pictures or something. The weekend didn't work out to get together and today she asked if she and joedecker could stop by after my dance class tonight. I happily agreed and fortunately scheduled in some "clean-up the house" time. Anyhow, shortly before 10pm mactavish and joedecker showed up at catzen's and my place along with eeyore74, gs, and cjsmith. They were weighed down with baskets and bags full of food and drinks for us--breads, cheeses, wines, soda, juice, crackers, soup, pasta, sauce, olive oil, vinegar, and chocolates. I was overwhelmed, to say the least. Then they told me that it was rampling's idea to do this and that she had even formed a LJ friend's group to organize it!! They also told me that hopeforyou and sinboy were in on it and that they had selected the gorgeous baskets, and klwalton was part of the plan and she had selected some wine special for catzen. Oh yeah, shaktiqueen and joedecker's Chris were also part of the plan and helped pull it together. I was then really overwhelmed--I couldn't believe that all these people had gone to the trouble to do all this for us.
catzen was in the shower when they all arrived so I went up to tell him what they'd done and waited for him to finish grooming before we looked over our gifts. I had a great time hanging out with everyone and they told me that they figured since I can't really attend bi coffee right now that they could bring Tuesday night to me--That really meant a lot to me. Once catzen was all groomed and came downstairs we looked over all the great food and opened the card which contained a beautiful message written by rampling and everyone's signatures; another suprise was contained in the card--money. I am afraid I didn't handle the site of the cash all that gracefully (I actually exclaimed "Jesus Christ"), but I really was floored.
I am overwhelmed not just by the tangible generosity shown towards us, but also the extreme thoughtfulness and kindness of the gifts. It was so nice to have company in our house and to get to see people I haven't seen in a while. It was wonderful to get to hang out with friends and to feel so loved. It is so nice that after the food is eaten and the money spent we will have the beautiful baskets and card as reminders of what wonderful, caring, loving friends we have (not that we would forgot). And I cannot lie, it is nice to have food and drink in the house which I didn't have to shop (or pay) for and it is nice to know that we have received some breathing room financially.
So, thank you all for whatever role you played in making this very special gift forcatzen and me. I hope I was able to express my appreciation when you all were at my house--I was overwhelemed and somewhat at a loss.
A special thank you torampling for organizing this--what can I say but, WOW!! I am so glad to have you as a friend. I am glad to have all of you as friends.
OK...must get to sleep. I have rehersal in SF in 6 hours.
