"controversial" survey
Sep. 28th, 2008 01:56 amI need to wind down as I just spent the past couple of hours working on choreography for two dances. Figured I'd do this survey as it does have some interesting, if not necessarily controversial, questions.
[01] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
Duh.
[02] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
Good gods no. I think meth is one of the more evil and horribly destructive drugs in circulation today. I have seen far, far too many people addicted and seriously harmed in so many ways from using it. I know people with permanent physiological/neurological damage from doing it. Meth psychosis is also one of the more terrifying things I have encountered in my life. I have never touched that drug nor would I. I do not tolerate it in my home, places of business or around me in any way. I am fairly live and let live in terms of most drug use, but not with meth.
[03] Abortion: for or against it?
Is anyone really "for it"? I mean, really. It is a often a shitty option amongst what is typically an array of even shittier options. That said, it should remain legal, affordable, safe and easily accessible. I am not in the camp of "would never have one." I haven't had one but there are a number of instances where I would have one. If I were raped and the morning after pill failed or I had no access to it and I became pregnant I would have an abortion. If the child I was carrying had such major problems that he/she would certainly die while an infant OR if he or she was certainly destined for a short life of incredible pain and suffering and would only be kept alive for a short time with major medical intervention I would probably opt for an abortion. I truly feel in my heart that would be the humane thing to do, no matter how incredibly difficult it may be for me to do so. If my life were in serious danger due to a pregnancy and it was much too early to deliver, keeping in mind we can risk delivery pretty damned early these days, I would abort. I have a living, breathing child who needs me as a parent first and foremost. I would *not* abort if I was carrying a baby with Down's Syndrome.
[04] Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
This is quite possibly one of the dumbest questions I have ever seen. Seriously? Does this even deserve an answer? Of course the world would not fail with a female president though the fact someone thought to ask this asinine question proves to me that my "I'll be post-feminist in the post-patriarchy" t-shirt is still quite relevant.
[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
In general, no.
[06] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
Yes, or at least decriminalized. It is ridiculous that it is illegal. It is less addictive than alcohol or tobacco and causes less harm. It can be most certainly be used responsibly and it does have medicinal purposes which are life savers for many people.
[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
It boggles my mind that anyone would want to marry someone they were sexually unfamiliar with and that anyone would wish that upon their children. I think people should engage in sexual activity responsibly and engaging in such activity should be something "saved" for marriage.
[08] Do you believe in God?
No, not really.
[09] Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
Yes. Duh.
[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
There are so many things wrong with this question I do not even know where to begin. What the fuck is up with the assumption that the only illegal immigrants are from south of the US and speak Spanish? Who wrote this survey, the fucking minutemen? Are we supposed to be scared of the brown people? Bleah. I don't think illegal immigration is a problem in the US except for the fact that illegal immigrants are far too often exploited in the labor force, treated poorly and manipulated by our legal system and are made to be the scapegoat of all our nation's ills.
[11] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
It would depend on the situation and the girl, but in general, I do not think a twelve year old should ever be in this position and if a twelve year old were pregnant I would be far more concerned about how that happened and why.
[12] Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
Yes.
[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
Yes. It never should have been started.
[14] Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
No. It should be legal for those with terminal illnesses and regulated closely.
[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
No.
[16] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
Yes. I do not believe the flag is any more sacred than any other piece of cloth and I firmly believe in the right to burn it in protest.
[17] Who do you think would make a better president? McCain or Obama?
Obama, hands down. McCain is a sexist, racist asshat and the thought of him as President makes me want to cry. Seriously, I am so incredibly disgusted with him and his party I don't even know where to begin.
[18] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
Not afraid. I know I will be judged, but I don't really care.
