Apparently the lights in the office were out due to having been turned off. However, I still have no idea where the actual light switches are (that is what happens when you work in a monster-sized office).
So, I have enough illumination to work, but my head is still hurting from my nasty migraine. Bleah, bleah.
In other news, I had my work sposored health screening this morning and actually managed to impress the screeners with my incredible(in a good way) cholesterol ratio and amount of HDL---cool--go my blood!! I also got a fasting diabetes screen and my glucose levels are in normal range, which is a big relief. And my blood pressure is great as well. They did a body composition with the calipers (I hate those things) and came up with a reasonable "goal" weight, which they based on % of body fat and weight, rather than height and weight. I am fairly impressed by this as these were the only people (aside from the awesome dietician/nutritionist at Kaiser) who calculated a goal weight like this. They came up with a weight which I could actually exist at, rather than the one on weight charts which would put me in heart failure before I ever reached it. However, given how much I exercise already and my fairly good eating habits it is somewhat unlikely that I will lose weight. It is also doubtful that there is much of a need for me to lose weight.
It is "suggested" I lose weight because my "extra" fat can supposedly lead to cholesterol issues, heart problems, and diabetes; however, my cholesterol levels and ratio are more than outstanfing, my blood pressure optimal, my blood glucose normal, I exercise extensively, I don't smoke, and I drink very moderately.
This begs the question then, Is there really a medical reason for me to have less fat on my body, or are the medical/heathcare/fitness industries just so damn invested in the idea that "thin equals healthy and better" that they cannot conceive of a person existing with little to no health risk becase zie has some "etxra" fat on zir's body?
hmmmm...something to think about...
