actually getting there

cassidyroseI am finally making serious progress on my thesis, which means major progress on the completion of my MA. Woo-hoo!!!
For so long this felt lilke an unattainable goal--when I had to drop out the program to work full-time-plus some back in 1998 I thought I was going to go back and within a year or so. In late 1999 I had to suddenly live on one income as I was separated and nearing divorce; as a result of the reduction of income and having to pay for the divorce I was unable to go back to school and it felt like I was not going to be able to finish. catzen and we moved in together later that year. One year and one month ago catzen and I decided that I we were doing well enough financially and could hack a major reduction in income. So, I quit my miserable, soul and life-sucking job and returned to school. Last summer I got a good job which pays me a decent amount for the work I do, and also affords me the flexibility I need to finish school. This past fall I seriously started working towards getting done with the program and wrote my thesis proposal. I have recently acquired a thesis chair and today I picked up the paperwork to file for promotion to canidacy (so I can graduate in December) as well as the request for use of human subjects paperwork. So, I am going to get moving on the human subjects stuff so that I can start collecting data by April. Yay!!!
I cannot express how good it feels to be really moving forward again and near completion of my degree after such a long period of stagnation (where this is concerned--other parts of my life have been far from stagnant that past several years.
So, yeah, I am feeling productive and good today, even if there is a lot of dishes and laundry to do.
