cassidyrose: (garden goodies)

Tomato harvest is in full swing in our garden. I have close to twenty ripe tomatoes, at least 4-5 in the 1lb range, on the counter right now and more that will be ready to pluck from the vine in the next day or so. And that's not counting the cherry tomatoes. One tomatillo plant is slowing down, but another is producing loads of fruit that will be ready soon. We already enjoyed a great chipotle-tomatillo salsa last week with our tomatillos and made our way through a huge bowl of kiwi-tomato salsa made with our tomatoes. Yum! Our onions and bell peppers are doing well as well.

We are really enjoying our garden this year.

Yay!!!

My Ace tomato plants are dying, but the tomatoes that are left - about 4 dozen - are ripening. I already have seeds for next summer, bought online - tomatoes bred especially for containers. So we'll see how I do with growing tomatoes from seeds instead of already established plants.

My basil is having a second life. I harvested it, cutting it back to practically nothing, but I cut it at the double leaves and they're sending more shoots up, so I think I'll get a second, albeit smaller, basil harvest.

Need any oregano or thyme? I swear, if they weren't contained in pots, they'd take over the back yard :).
