mmmm..Chocolate, coffee, and dance!!
Jan. 29th, 2002 02:57 pmThis is another plea from me for people to attend the next Big Moves fundraiser, a chocolate and coffee tasting this Sunday, February 3rd from 2-5pm at Ashkenaz Music and Dance Community Center in Berkeley. We are offering chocolate from Valhrona, Joseph Schmidt, Hooper's, Spun Sugar, Godiva, Scharffen Berger, and See's. Also, I am performing hip-hop dance with the Phat Fly Girls and we also have a belly dancing troupe coming to perform. And, we will finally have a copy of the short documentary Flaunt about us and will be showing that as well. Come on, what more could you ask for--chocolate, coffee, live performances, and video!!!
Here is the official info:
February 3, 2 to 5 p.m.
A Taste for Dance: chocolate and coffee tasting
Ashkenaz Music and Dance Community Center * 1317 San Pablo Ave., Berkeley
$20/door includes 5 tastes and unlimited drinks
Chocolate. Nectar of the gods. Aphrodisiac of the ages. Rich with history, redolent with mystery...
Aw, heck, who needs an excuse?
If you do need one, then remember that chocolate is the perfect prelude to Valentine's Day, and visit Big
Move's first-ever "A Taste for Dance." We're offering samples from Bay Area chocolatiers and
candymakers; each guest will receive a tasting card good for five tastes (additional tasting tickets available for $1 apiece), plus unlimited coffee and tea to wash it all down with.
In the video gallery we'll be running footage from last year's Bodies in Motion concert, as well as "Flaunt,"
a short documentary about Big Moves by Stanford filmmaker Elisabeth James. Meanwhile, the Center
Stage will feature bite-size performances by Raks Al Tasneem (a bellydance troupe) and Big Moves' own
Phat Fly Girls!
Profits from "A Taste for Dance" benefit the Big Moves production of Bodies in Motion 2002, a
full-length dance concert celebrating size diversity. This year's concert, set for April 12-13 at the ODC
theater in San Francisco, will once again welcome Big Dance, a Canadian modern dance company
comprised of all large dancers.
