Photo of the day for 06/27/13: Owl Portrait. Yesterday we spent all afternoon at the county fair which was fun but overwhelmingly hot. In the plaza area they had a number of informational booths and one of them was Sulfur Creek, the wildlife rehab and refuge center in Hayward. We love Sulfur Creek and S. went to camp there last year and will go again this year. They rehab and release the injured wildlife that they can and house the ones that cannot be released. This barn owl was hanging out with one of the staff at the table yesterday helping educate the public about wildlife. This guy was brought to them injured and they were unable to release him as he was way too friendly with people. It is believed someone tried to illegally raise him as a pet when he was small and then perhaps tried to release him. He lives at Sulfur Creek now and helps teach people that owls are NOT PETS. He's a beauty.

We will be in Dolores Park for Dyke March festivities tomorrow. I may or may not do the march to the Castro as it may be really hard to do with my foot in the cam boot. We will see.

Sunday we may or may not watch some of the parade and I will be headed to Queerly Beloved at El Rio in the later afternoon.

If you see us, come say hello!
