big day

Tomorrow baby_fly turns 6. That went fast. in a couple of weeks he starts first grade. ptor took the day off work tomorrow so we could do something big and fun with S. We had planned to go to Gilroy Gardens, but then found out their summer weekday hours ended last week and they are only open on weekends until next summer. We will be taking the kids there later this month. So, we thought the Exploratorium would be a good place to go instead. Then I found out the America's Cup is being held at the marina/Yacht club across the street and parking and driving would be disastrous and it is not easy to get there on public transit so that became a no-go. We ultimately decided on the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I am quite excited about this, as is S. We are hoping that we have time on the way back north tomorrow evening to stop at the Lego store in San Jose for him. We have a big (as in one of the large ~$100 kits) Lego firestation kit he is getting for his birthday hidden in the attic...I got it at Christmas time for half off. He has wanted that kit for over a year. We will give it to him late tomorrow or on Friday since if we give it to him in the morning he won't want to go anywhere. He bought two new kits today with birthday money my uncle sent him...kits that had over 200 pieces each and were designed for 8-14 year olds, and he completed them each in an hour, by himself. He loves his Legos.

We love our little guy and are loving watching him turn into a bigger guy.
