cassidyrose: (busy bee on sunflower)
Just really, really busy lately. S. is in school four afternoons a week which is great because L. naps then and I can get some stuff done, but still, I have SO MUCH stuff to get done. And I have to get S. to and from school, pack his snack, and deal with all the business of being on the board of a co-op preschool. Busy. Yes.

S. also has swimming two nights a week which he LOVES and we three (the boys and I) started music class this morning. S. did this music program for a couple of years when he was younger and he is happy to go again with L. L. had a great time.

I have been managing to squeeze in a couple of yoga practices a week while L. naps and S. is at school, despite Harlie's continued protestations about me doing yoga. I am trying to ease my shoulder into it to see if I can tolerate it--I have an old injury that gets aggravated so I am being careful.

I need to start work on a new piece for the Fly Girls, but I am having trouble finding the physical time and the brain space for it. But it is simmering in my brain.

In other dance news, I took an awesome tap master class last Sunday. I have not tapped that hard is a REALLY long time. It was super-challenging, but I was able to do it all. I did far better than I thought I would. So glad I went and so glad that [livejournal.com profile] ptor was happy to get the kids entertained while I was gone.

I made really awesome gumbo last night. Had some for lunch today. I make a really tasty vegan andouille sausage for it. Good stuff. Made more multigrain bread the other day...I love the stuff. It has millet in it---yay for crunchy millet. I have also created and perfected a banana-peanut butter-chocolate chip muffin recipe. So good.

And with that I need to run to wake up (boo!) a sleeping baby so I can retrieve the elder child from school and plow through the evening.

This is always the hardest part of the day. L. always half-naps, S. is worn-out, and I just want to sleep but have to power through and make dinner and proceed with the evening. I cannot do much cooking until [livejournal.com profile] ptor gets home and takes kids to play outside or in the garage so I just try to keep the kids remotely entertained until then (we were out all day...it is just this point in the evening when things get rough). This is sometimes when I allow S. 15-20 minutes of TV. He is watching Rachael Ray right now (cooking show, not talk show) which I find obnoxious but he loves. There is nothing kid-appropriate on the Science Channel right now--otherwise he'd be watching that.

I am contemplating dinner and am feeling tired and uninspired. Something with potatoes. Probably kale chips as well and maybe the green beans. I am now going to see if L. will watch me cook from the travel crib.

OK, back to it.
