Well, I am planning on writing bigger, more involved posts about the events of my weekend, but I figured I'd just do a quick recap first.

Friday night, after a verylong drive in traffic to Oakland to pick up my mom for the U2 concert, she and I made it to the Oakland Arena in plenty of time to pick up our tickets at will call and grab some food before the show. We were quite happy to discover that our seats were much better than we had expected; while they were behind the stage they were very close to the stage, and it being an open stage-set meant that we could see far better than people facing the front of the stage across the arena. The show itself was absolutely wonderful and she and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

After the show I got to spend a little bit of quality time with my grandparents (where mom was staying overnight) and their dogs. Then I drove home to catch a few hours of sleep before my big day on Saturday.

Saturday I managed to get myself to the city with my costume and make-up and change of clothes and everything I needed by 1:00pm. I was pretty damn proud of myself. I met up with Marina et. al from Big Moves and we rehearsed for the next 4 hours. Then we got changed and made the trek to Martinez, where we scoped out our performance area, comandeered the bar office as our dressing room, and finally got dinner. We did our debut performance as the Phat Fly Girls at a little after 10pm. The crowd loved us and I think we did really well, especially considering we had just learned half the material that day. We all had a really great time performing and dancing after our performance. I left the party at around 11ish, and was driven back to SF by Marilyn. As soon as I got in my car I realized I left my cell phone in her car--DRATS!! It is still in SF and I need to retrieve it this week.

I got home to San Jose at around 1:30am hungry and tired. M. and I then drove to Santa Theresa County Park near IBM (along with half of south San Jose) and watched the meteor shower until 3:00am. It was really incredible. We saw lots of big fireballs which went from orange to blue to purple before fading. We also say some flashing through the sky in pairs, and some that seemed to flash, then fade, then flash again.

By 3:00am I was really hungry so we went to the Mini-Gourmet (neither mini, nor gourmet, but it is open 24 hours) and had onion rings and cheese sticks which we promptly regretted. Too much grease. Anyhow, after that we went to bed and I have mostly slept the past few days, slowly recovering from the sudden activity jolt after being sick for two weeks.

That is all for now...more later.
