more violence in the mission

cassidyroseA San Francisco taxicab driver with a fatal gunshot wound crashed into a utility pole in the Mission District on Sunday morning before dawn, causing a fiery blaze that left thousands of nearby residents without power.
The man was shot at 24th and Folsom. My car had been parked on 25th and Folsom earlier that day. I had walked 24th between Folsom and Mission twice that day. Fortunate for me, I guess, I wasn't there at 4am when the shooting happened. While I know people can get shot anywhere, this is just one of many violent incidents (second homcide that I am aware of) to happen this year within feet of where I dance in SF (at 24th and Mission). It doesn't make me feel any better about the neighborhood (it already makes me very tense).
