I have pictures for my dance classes at the studio tonight. I am debating whether or not to get any individual pictures, or just to get the group photo. I think I may do one individual shot in the costume I think I look half-way decent in, and just get the group photos for the other three classes. I like having the pictures of my classes, but I am not too pleased with how I look lately, so it is difficult for me to get in my body-hugging velvet costume and feel OK.

Well, I am happy with how I look in some ways, some of the time. But my old demons haunt me a lot and it is sometimes really difficult maintaining a sense of okayness about myself in a sea of size 5 sixteen year olds.

Uggh.

You know, what we need is a support group in the East Bay area. Are there any. . .besides the BBW dances? I would be interested in attending and I'm sure my darling would as well.

There is no support group that I know of. I am assistant directot of Big Moves (http://www.bigmoves.org) and we produce size-positive dance-related events. We also have a hip-hop performing troupe, the Phat Fly Girls, which I dance in.

::nods:: Yes, Kathleen has told me about Big Moves and I saw the Phat Fly Girls at one of the Big Boogie Nights. I would love to join, but right now both of our schedules are so erratic and money is so tight we can't manage it. ::sniffle::

Oh, then you must have seen me dance (I've danced at all BBNs that we have been at). I also danced at the opening of the San Diego BBN venue. We won't be dancing at BBNs anymore (too small for us to dance in and very far to travel), but we are looking for other performing opportunities, and we have performed elsewhere.

When your schedule settles down you should come check out the hip-hop class. I am also starting a Jazz class in Redwood City next month. We are also teaching a hip-hop workshop at LadyFest SF. We are working on some more social events for later this summer/early fall.
