My eczema is acting up again on my left hand and it really, really, hurts and itches. I am sure it is acting up as a result of my recent burst of housecleaning. Even though I am careful of my skin when cleaning, any substantial amount of housework done with my hands will result in an outbreak. Gloves help but then I sweat in the gloves which causes irritation, and then outbreak. I am using my topical steroids and it is helping some, but it is difficult to overcome the feeling that I want to claw my skin off.

grrrrrr.

I hate this stupid skin disease.

I know what you mean--I've got the same thing and it hurts like hell, plus the itching drives me insane. I've been taking flax oil for it, and it actually seems to help (when I remember to take it, that is.) Barleans is a good brand. I like the capsules because drinking it doesn't taste very good. Also, supposedly hot water aggravates it, although I always forget and run really hot water on my hands, which doesn't do them any good. Anyway, HTH...

Have you tried cotton gloves...

under the rubber ones? They can be found at Keeble and Shuchat in Palo Alto, I think. I haven't bought any in awhile as I used them to handle negative strips and slides when I was doing a lot of still photography. But I also used them under rubber gloves when housecleaning to keep my hands from getting too sweaty.

Beware the killer gloves

Sounds like you might be allergic to latex or that powder they use on latex gloves. There are some new less irritating alternatives which I encourage you to try (if you haven't already), because those kinds of allergies tend to get worse fast, especially in someone as run down as you are sometimes. Ooops, I'm sounding Momly. May your lovely hands participate in many lovely experiences this week.

thanks for the advice...don't worry about being Momly--i like it from you, and I need it :-)

Anyhow, the surgical-type gloves I currently have are powderless--what i tend to react to is sweating under them which occurs when I do dishes with them. I really ought to use the big rubber&cloth gloves if I am going to be getting my hands too warm. I just like the feel
