klwalton was right.
These pickles are made of awesome. S. and I made them today. We used Persian cucumbers which were great for this. I had to up to vinegar by a couple of cups to cover the veggies, I halved the red pepper flakes for S.'s sake, I left out the turmeric because the smell of it makes me gag, and I took the salt down to 1/3 cup. They are fabulous! Though I think next time I will take the salt down more as they still are fairly salty, though not overly so.
We are all quite excited about our pickle adventure.
