update on the update
Apr. 24th, 2002 04:47 pmThanks to all who responded to my last post either here or privately.
I have spoken with the mechanic again and apparently a new transmission for my car runs over 4K (not suprised), but we are getting a rebuilt for a little over 2k--then I just have to pay a few hundred in labor. I got a mini-lecture from said mechanic about how my current transmission would have lasted longer had I had it serviced yearly. Well, I didn't know I was supposed to do that (have it serviced) and given my past few years (I've had the car since late '99) I am not all that suprised that I missed that matainence detail. Now I know.
So, I have approved the work as we need to get the car fixed and we do have the money (it was just supposed to be rent money for the next few months). I will just be working more and getting more creative with the finances. We went grocery shopping last night so we could stock-up while we had the illusion of money. Unfortunately,
catzen locked his keys in his car in the Trader Joe's parking lot (I don't have a spare...yet) and we had to wait an hour in the wind and cold for AAA to show up. Oh well...We got food and necessities, and some yummy spring onions and garlic and really tasty new potatoes.
I am still feeling a bit sick, though not as badly as Monday.
The warm weather is bringing out more evil creatures (
catzen's term for cockroaches), so I need to use the caustic chemicals again to zap them. They are disgusting.
I am slating school work to get done Thursday and Friday.
I have a rehersal in the city on Friday night for another upcoming show, and another rehersal Saturday.
My dad had surgery on Moday (emergency) but he is doing OK now. I got very nervous about it as he is the first family member to be in the hospital since
catzen's father's death
We really need to get laundry done and I believe
catzen is working on that now. I will help finish when I get home.
I am bored with my current tasks at work. Not much I can do about that, though. It happens when one does the same thing for nearly a year.

Date: 2002-04-24 05:54 pm (UTC)as to cockroaches - boric acid works, and borax (laundry stuff?) has that in it, so you can sprinkle on the floor - but it's not too safe around pets, if I remember, and i think you have some, so this may not have been as helpful as i thought..
good luck.

Date: 2002-04-24 08:58 pm (UTC)About the evil creatures, I have an absolute horror of cockroaches. If you have pets you are going to have to put any poisons in places they aren't likely to get to. Traps under major appliances, like the fridge, stove, washer, etc. work well. *shudder* I hope you have good luck getting rid of them.
