I finished choreographing the dance.
Thank the gods.
Whenever I have to choreograph on a tight timeline like this, to a song that I hadn't originally planned to create something to, getting the dance complete starts to feel like I am trying to get blood from a stone. I typically like to choreograph to music that I chose because I felt the dance in it. I also like to have spent a decent amount of time communing with the music before I even think about setting movement to it. That wasn't in the cards this time and this piece was a particular challenge as we are performing it on a very small stage so I had to make a dance which stays fairly confined with little traveling which is not my style at all. Not to mention it is a blues song which I find particularly challenging what with the multiple super-peppy instrumental breaks. But, I have pulled it off. It is done save for staging and planning an entrance. With three more rehearsals that should be good. I will say, for a dance with very little traveling it still moves and just marking it in my living room has made be sweaty and too keyed up to sleep. Urgh. I need to get some sleep.
But I AM DONE.
Now I need to finish the other dance I am working on and start yet another piece. And edit some other pieces.
But for tonight, I am done.
Thank the gods.
