Another one, just because...

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Spent the better part of the year pregnant. Seen my insides via ultrasound. Had a baby. Had a c-section. Spent the night (several) in a hospital. Had a baby who was hospitalized. Breastfed a baby. Signed a birth certificate. Worked for a company that went under. Sold stock. Was a matron of honor. Taken an anti-emetic daily. Took a narcotic that didn't make me barf. Given up all dairy products.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions?
I don't make new years resolutions.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Me. An old friend from my childhood/highschool.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My grandfather

5. What countries did you visit?
None.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
A better long-term financial/investment plan. Better organization in the house.

7. What will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Having our baby. The sight of our baby post-spinal tap and his shrieks during. The night the doctor came to tell us S. might me very sick and he was taken to the Special Care nursery.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Having an ultimately healthy baby. Exclusively breastfeeding our baby.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not getting enough Big Moves stuff accomplished. Not being prepared for worst case scenarios during labor and post-partum.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Was very sick with "morning sickness" (ha!) throughout the whole pregnancy. Had a very bad flu in August. Had the c-section which is like a big injury. Only two sinus infections--one while pregnant and one post-partum.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Our sofa. Our mattress. S.'s co-sleeper.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
[livejournal.com profile] ptor who is the best daddy ever!

Our administration's.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The baby.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
"Crazy" by Gnarls Barkely

17. Are you...

A. Happier or sadder? Tough one. The PPD makes me a bit sadder than before, but in other ways I am much, much happier.
B. Thinner or fatter? Thinner. This is mostly irrelevant to me, though I was concerned about losing so much weight during and immediately afterpregnancy.
C. Richer or poorer? Richer.

Therapy. Travel.

Being sad. Blaming myself for things that went wrong during birth.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Didn't really have one, though I really, really enjoyed all the Phish I listened to.

27. What did you want and get?
A healthy baby. Stock that is worth something. Enough financial security that I don't have to work and can be a full-time SAH for S.

28. What was your favorite film of this year?
We hardly saw any movies, but even if we saw more I am sure "Little Miss Sunshine" would still top the list.

Does this still fit? or Adventures in plus-size maternity wear.

[livejournal.com profile] ptor. Dark chocloate that has no dairy. On Demand cable. Massages from [livejournal.com profile] kineticphoenix. Baby and Me. Zofran.

32. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
Nothing can prepare you for the reality of parenthood. Really.
