war planes
May. 20th, 2009 03:37 pmJust got home from a trip to Moffett Field to see the B-17 and B-24 on display as part of the Wings of Freedom Tour. Even though war planes are not typically my thing I had an interest as my grandfather was a mechanic with the US Air Force during WWII and he worked on the B-24 while stationed in England. It was too bad he was not still alive to go with us. We took S. because we figured he would love it as he loves airplanes and he did. He loved being able to walk through the planes and look at everything, especially the radios. It was a really tight squeeze getting into the planes and walking through them and I has squash some claustrophobic reactions to do it. All in all it was a worthwhile outing: for Peter and I it was an interesting history lesson and for S. it was just impressive--he kept saying, "It's enorrrrrrrmous!" I got some decent pictures and am glad our tiny engineer got to look at all the heavy machinery he loves so much.
