check your sources, please

Valleywag is a gossip site. Some of their stories may be true or partially true, but they are not the Wall Street Journal--hell, they are not even the Mercury News. Links to stories from them should probably have a disclaimer that, well, the story came from a gossip site. They are not exactly a bastion of journalistic credibility and hard-news reporting. (This in reference to the Valleywag story re: LJ layoffs that I have seen all over LJ today).
