One year ago tonight our baby was conceived. It seems a lot longer than a year ago. What a year! Of course, it seems like we have had him on this side of the womb for a lot longer than three months as well. He is amazing.

It's a fluke that we know the date--I had a bad case of pnuemonia the weeks prior and sex was a bit spotty as a result. I was just feeling well enough to have sex the night he was conceived, then very quickly had a relapse. The upside to my illness and our infrequent sex that month was that we wound up knowing the day our baby started his journey towards life. I knew I was ovulating that night, but I really didn't think I was going to get pregnant that month (we'd been trying for three months with no luck).

It is very weird to look at our little guy and think about the fact that we actualy made him and I grew him inside me for nine months. Sometimes I still marvel at the fact that he still gets his nutrition solely from me.

Our lives have been forever changed for him and I look forward to our long journey ahead with him.
