random blatherings

Morning sickness really is a misnomer. My nausea lasts all day and I threw-up yesterday and today close to noon (OK, technically still morning but several hours after I've actually gotten up). I am hoping for a reprieve in a few weeks--for now I just feel sick and tired and bleah. (Oh yeah, those who don't know already--I am indeed pregnant.)

I have a performance in two weeks--Yikes! I am hoping the nausea abates while on stage.

Oh, and don't forget folks--The Big Moves Chocolate Tasting is coming up on Sunday, February 5th at the UU Church in Oakland. And this year there will be a chocolate fountain! Tickets on sale later this week at bigmoves.org and from your friendly Big Moves dancers and board members.

Preganacy journal will be created this week. Stay tuned for details!

We had a very nice New Year's with friends, both eve and day. It was lovely to see people and hang out and relax.

I am so, so behind in some areas of life right now it is not even funny. I am trying not to panic.

[livejournal.com profile] ptor has a very funny Harlie story to tell. Hopefully he will write it up soon.

August 18th would be a nice day to have your baby. *wink*

The baby is actually due on August 23rd--one day before [livejournal.com profile] catzen's birthday.

I'm assuming you know ginger is good for nausea - ginger Altoids might be a good option to battle the morning sickness!

With Kevin I puked every morning in the shower until week 14.

With Zach I gagged and retched all day up until 21 weeks (and spent the last 6 weeks of that taking a combo of B6 and unisom to bring the puking to a "reasonable" level).

I hear ginger capsules/tablets work well--I plan to look into those if I ever get pregnant again.

My mom had her head in the toliet for 8 months while pregnant with my sister. I should try ginger capsules--I don't really like the taste of raw/candied ginger so it may be the best bet. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I loathe the taste of strong ginger, so eating candied ginger made me projectile puke when I tried it. I've heard mixed reviews on wearing those motion sickness bracelets/seabands.

Anyone who teaches hypnobirthing usually also can do hypnosis to help control morning sickness as well. If you are open to that, I'm sure there are several practitioners in your area.

i hope your pregnancy goes swimmingly! ...'s the only thing i could think of saying without sounding too "YAY, A WOMAN'S GOAL IN LIFE IS TO REPRODUCE". stupid cliches. hehe.
