Enough already!
So, you care about "life"? How about providing health care for everyone? How about making sure the care we receive meets some sort of standard? How about making sure our inner-cities are liveable and not overrun my violence and disease?
You care about "life"? How about providing some decent care for all those babies you want born? How about paying their parents' a living wage? How about providing some decent housing?
You care about "life"? How about making it so we cannot be denied care based on our ability to pay? How about providing the same care to people of color, poor people, fat people, oh the list goes on, that is routinely provided their white, rich, thin counterparts?
You care about "life"? How about making sure hospitals are staffed with enough competent staff to care for the cirtically ill? How about making sure there are enough damned nurses and doctors on staff so that when an emergency arises it can be attended to?
Have you ever had to sit in the ER all night waiting for your loved one to get care, while watching them slowly suffer the effects of a stroke? I bet you've never had to sit a an ER waiting room all night that has a metal detector and full body search upon every entry, where the hospital is so damned understaffed that there is no one at the intake desk, no one to help the parents with the listless and feverish toddler at 3am, where there are not nearly enough chairs for all the people waiting, where your loved one has been shoved into a corner of the building on a gurney to wait her turn.
You care about "life"? How about working with doctors and nurses to make sure their personal prejudices and bigotry does not result in them providing sub-standard care?
So, You care about "life"? Where are you with your protest signs and pleas to congress when children are shot dead in their homes, when women and men are beaten to a pulp by their partners just because they bothered to exist, when careless hospital staff make errors that cost lives?
Do you really care about "life"? I don't think so. The only life you seem to care about is the the life of a helpless, brainless, powerless, voiceless, white, young, female.
Apparently, the rest of us don't deserve the time of day.
