Photo of the Day for 01/18/16: Morning Mist

Yesterday morning it rained in Yosemite Valley and snowed at the higher elevations. Mid-morning that rain gave way to sunshine and clouds and the magical mist returned. I shot this in the parking lot of Yosemite Lodge while we were packing out.

Photo of the Day for 01/19/16: Tunnel View

Tunnel View is probably one of the most iconic views of Yosemite. El Capitan, Half Dome, and Bridalveil Falls are all visible, in a stunning arrangement, and it is really is breathtaking. I like to visit it whenever we go because I just like to see it. It is very different depending on the season and this weekend with the mix of recent snow, recent rain, and winter light it was the most colorful I've seen it. Everyone and their dog has a pic of Tunnel View, but I still enjoy shooting it. Well, I don't enjoy negotiating the crowds that are often there, and we we stopped on Sunday on our first attempt to Badger Pass the crowd was kind of really bad. Nonetheless I shot my best shot of Tunnel View and I am pleased with it. There are, of course, many an outtake with people stepping into the frame, but this one is quite nice.
